Thankfully, Lassie Comes Home successfully replicates the positive elements found within the original series. Psych originally made waves during its tenure on television, with a total of 31 award nominations and five total wins to boot. Despite being a sequel, Lassie Comes Home is considered to be a self-contained story. Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, and Corbin Bernsen reprise their roles from the original series. The film follows Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez), a detective with an impeccable memory, and his best friend Gus (Dulé Hill), as they're roped into a bizarre case involving an attempted murder, a cute dog, and even some supernatural forces.
